About Doctors of Charity

Doctors Charity is a 501(c); non-political organization established by American medical professionals of African origin. It is a part of the growing international humanitarian movement, with partner-members, and volunteers from across the world. We have been brought together by our collective and individual experiences, and particularly by a common desire to help humanity through service. Doctors Charity was founded to assist in prevention and alleviation of human suffering, through community efforts focusing on education, disease prevention and health promotion, while ensuring respect for, and maintaining the dignity of those we have the opportunity to serve

Doctors of Charity, acknowledges that health problems among the underserved population can often be overlooked or remain undetected. Health workers are the heart and soul of health systems, and yet the world is faced with a chronic shortage. An estimated 4.2 million health workers are needed to bridge this gap, with an estimated 1.5 million needed in Africa alone. This critical shortage is recognized as a fundamental constraint to achieving progress on health and reaching health and development goals.
